MTB - Alpine Overnight Tour

Let's get started and explore the Rotwand Alm on 1.597 metres altitude!

Our house-own Rotwand Alm is a famous spot for many bikers!

Starting at the Gasthof Aschenwald you follow the road towards town centre and then onto the Windau valley. After approx. 8 km you pass the Gasthof Jägerhäusl - after the bridge turn left towards Gasthof Steinberg and Gamskogel hut. At the Gamskogel hut you should definitely plan a stop and try the famous "Moosbeernockn" created by Peter, a famous guesthouse host!

Go on past the Baumgarten Alm and then turn left towards Foisching and Rotwand Alm. When you reach the Filzenscharte and the Schreierbründl you are almost there! At the end of the valley you can already see the Rotwand Alm - follow the forest road and after a few minutes you reach the Rotwand Alm.

Self-made milk, butter, bacon and sausages - Carola and Marianne, the two dairymaids are happy to serve a refreshing wheat beer. We have conquered 26 km and 1.000 metres in altitude!

On your way back you will again pass the Gamskogel hut and the Steinberghaus - a secret tipp is also the traditional cheese alp Straubing turn left before you reach the Jägerhäusl. After a short, but steep ascent you follow the signposts to Straubing.
